YILA Batch 1: An Overview
On April 19th, 2025, the DEEP En-Gender Youth successfully kicked off its virtual initiative, the Youth-Inclusive Learning Academy (YILA).
YILA is an extension of a previous project titled "Indigenous Rights to Education for Sustainability", a youth-led initiative selected for the Youth Empowerment Fund 2024, supported by Global Youth Mobilization and funded by the European Union.
YILA proudly welcomes 21 selected Southeast Asian youth aged 15–18 from Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste.
The opening remarks were delivered by the founder of the Global Deep Network, Prof. Alberto Gomes. He congratulated the YILA program and its participants and encouraged them to be the “lamp” (Deep in Sanskrit) that shines a light to help the Earth regenerate ecologically.
In this 1st batch, YILA will continue its sessions with a total of nine sessions every Saturday until June 14th.
Participants will engage in capacity-building activities focused on communication skills, including storytelling and public speaking, under the theme of sustainability & regeneration.
Each session is led by YILA mentor, Anna Christi Suwardi, Ph.D., a certified United Kingdom Professional Standard Frameworks (UKPSF) educator with FHEA status, and assisted by five instructors: Mr. Bandar Sinsae, Ms. Waenarima Waeyama, Ms. Bonyapat Moonrat, and Ms. Phoelina Tiew from Mae Fah Luang University, and Mr. Afalendra Fathineyza. S from Samakkhi Wittayakhom School International Program.
