Going Deep. Growing Change from the Roots

DEEP EnGender is an Indonesian non-profit, non-governmental research and learning organization working at the intersections of gender justice, ecological justice, Indigenous knowledge and rights, and peace.

We combine engaged research, transformative learning, community-led initiatives, and cross-sector collaboration to examine the structures that shape inequality, ecological degradation, and the marginalization of Indigenous peoples and their knowledge — and to support pathways for meaningful change.

Rooted in Indigenous wisdom and informed by feminist, decolonial, and critical scholarship, we work alongside communities, researchers, civil society, and other partners to produce knowledge, strengthen agency, and connect community knowledge and lived experience with research, policy, and public dialogue.

Our work is grounded in a simple conviction: lasting change grows from the roots.

We go deep because today's interconnected crises cannot be addressed at the surface
